Sending Skyward is a rock band from Colorado Springs, CO.  Our music showcases elements and influences of many genres including progressive rock, alternative metal, groove metal, atmospheric rock, and shoegaze.

The band was formed in 2019 by guitarists Andrew Koumis and David Malmstrom, along with bassist Jeffrey Chamberlain.  Drummer Jason Ricker joined later that year.  The band went through different vocalists before finally recruiting Jedidiah Grooters to handle vocal duties in March of 2021.  The members immediately began writing the songs that would appear on

"P R O E L I U M", and tracking the record began in May of 2021.  In August of 2021, the band played it's first national show in support of 10 Years.  Throughout 2021 and 2022, the band played with other national headliners, including Tantric, Nonpoint, and Cold.

In December of 2022, the band released their first single - "The Empty Chair", followed by the release of the "P R O E L I U M" EP in January 0f 2023.  The record was produced, mixed and mastered by drummer Jason Ricker.

Sending Skyward's music ranges from pounding odd-meter tribal rhythms and big wall-of-sound riffs, to breathy instrumental passages - sometimes all in the same song.  Through it all, Jed's lyrics tell his own personal stories, or allude to the stories of others.  The message is always one of self-discovery, hope, and empowerment, even amidst the chaos and strife of the world.  We invite you to come along with us as we explore and experience these things through the lens of music.
